Bonding four plus one gbit/s connections?

I am looking at the Delock 62966 / IO Crest SY-HUB24047 this is a USB 3.0 to 4 x 1gbit/s Ethernet adapter, I believe they are Realtek RTL8153. The laptops are running Windows 10 Pro and they have a native Intel gigabit Ethernet to begin with. Would it be possible to create a 5gbit/s connection with the Mikrotik CSS326-24G-2S+RM? Or some other cheap 10gbit/s uplink switch? It is my understanding Intel ANS will provide the teaming as long as there is at least one Intel port in there. I am just...

Just bought 2 of those for €100 ea.

It seems to be the Lenovo variant, single PSU, short length

MT0724-HCG, = "Mellanox SX6036 FDR14 InfiniBand Switch (oPSE) (Requires 00AE043)"
=> MSX6036F-1BRS ="SwitchX®-2 based 36-port QSFP FDR 1U Managed InfiniBand switch system with a non-blocking switching capacity of 4Tb/s. 1PS, short depth, C2P airflow, Rail Kit, RoHS6"

I have not received them yet, but for that price from a vendor with return option/covered by PP - what could go wrong;)

DDR3 DDR4 RAM price trends thread.

I thought I'd start a thread here for us to discuss DDR3/DDR4 ram prices.

I'm currently finding PC3-12800R 2Rx4 16GB RDIMMs around $60 individually, but as low as $55 in bigger lots >=8.

That said, the faster PC3-14900R 16GB 2Rx4 RDIMMs are not that far off at around $62 individually, and occasionally in the $50~range in larger lot auctions >=16.

Unfortunately, this is a bit higher than last year when I was able to find PC3L-12800R 16GB RDIMMs at around $35~$40 (in pairs), or the slower...

Hi guys,

I have two Quanta LB6M connected together in LAG with LACP.
Only the pvid (default) VLAN traffic is getting passed through their inter connection (LAG 1/1), all other VLANs work only on specific switch, do not get relayed.

Can you share your config, if you have it working?

Im looking for some SW /app to centrally manage (manage more so than monitor) a handful of dell switches (dell power connects).

Prior to purchasing about 7x Power connect 7048p swtiches, i had read that one could use Dell's OpenManage Network Manager software to manage up to 10x Dell switches at no cost. ( OMNM allowed up to 10x at no cost, but to manage more than 10x you had to buy a license for the software).

However, now that im trying to set this up, i cant find OMNM from dell, but...

Hello,

I have two X5660s and a Tyan s7012. I had some issues getting it to post but was able to get it to post with a single X5660 installed. When I install the second, the system fails to post. I have updated the bios to the most recent revision. A green light blinks near the second cpu socket. I've tried multiple ram configurations, I have tested both processors on the socket without the blinking green light. The system turns on immediately when a cpu is installed in the socket that is...

HP/Juniper (Cisco/Dell?) Stack switch needed! Advice me!

Hi all,

I need some advice. Let's start from what I need, I hope I can explain it correctly.
I need a couple of switch that can be stacked, and other features, in order to:
  1. have full redundancy - one broken shouldn't block anything
  2. have double of the bandwidth - provided using LACP between 2 port of servers and 1 port for each switch
  3. have at least 6 sfp/sfp+ in each switch in order to connect to other switch in LACP as stated before
  4. layer 3
  5. more than 500 VLANs...

The author seems to suggest that intel vulnerabilities could be the reason for this shift toward Epyc ecosystems.
As we progressively introduce Epyc in our projects with these potential security breaches in mind, I tend to agree with this guy (I guess a moderator's nextplatform hosting event may have accurate information :).

NAS and Lightweight Server Build Planning

I am looking to build a new server to replace my Dell R510 with. When I first got the server about 5 years ago, I was doing a lot of virtualization and messing around with it as a lab, but in recent years I don't spend as much time doing so. I got the server while in school and am now employed in the field, so it sits pretty much idle 24x7.

My issues with the server first and foremost are power, heat, space. I've got 8x3.5 7,200RPM drives, a pair of L5630s, and 8x4GB DDR3 sticks. The server...

Dell C6100 - Fans start out quiet, but over time grow louder

Hey everyone,

This isn't your usual "holy cow the C6100 is noisy!" question. My Intel (Tyan XS23-TY3) C6100 (after its initial jet engine startup) is actually rather quiet, likely because I am not pushing it too hard very often. I'm only running 2/4 blades as well, and they're located in the bottom-left and upper-right slots. The other two slots have blades in them, but they're pulled out just a bit so they're unplugged.

My temperatures are all good (21c ambient, CPU temps under 55C, MB...

I was wondering if someone could explain DWDM to me? As I understand it is that it uses different light wavelengths to get long distance, like remote data centers. I take it that you would need an appliance on each end?

I was wondering if it could be used to connect two FC or iSCSi switches together that are beyond the distance that single mode can handle?

Wanted to start a master thread for a couple of my favorite affordable switches - I've been helping out several STH members in PM's with these models and mentioning them buried in some existing threads, but figured it was time to get it more out in the open. The prices below fluctuate a lot with demand and with the best offer feature can usually be beaten. Switches are listed in order of raw capacity/capability, not price.
