Random hard drive observation.
We bought the Seagate 3TBs (ST3000DM001) early on when they were first released (mid 2012)... about 150 of them to shove into storage arrays. We had major problems getting them to recognize in Supermicro chassis with LSI cards. Sometimes we had random slots not work, other times had them just drop out. Luckily we had another use for them (cold storage and mail to users) so we traded up to 3TB WD Red drives which worked much better.
Fast forward, a dozen or so...
Seagate 3TB desktops failing
